Radio Frequency Skin Tightening and Contouring
Radiofrequency (RF) therapy, also called radiofrequency skin tightening, is a nonsurgical method of tightening your skin. The procedure involves using energy waves to heat the deep layer of your skin known as your dermis.
This heat stimulates the production of collagen. Collagen is the most common protein in your body. It creates the framework of your skin and gives your skin its firmness.
As you age, your cells produce less collagen, which leads to sagging skin and wrinkles. Skin laxity occurs around age 35 to 40 when the quantity and quality of your collagen begin to decline. Moreover, a fat collection due to erratic food habits adds to the sagging of the skin especially over the neck causing a double chin, abdomen, love handles, and arms. RF skin tightening is a procedure wherein all these changes are reversed.
The radiofrequency waves target collagen fibers causing remodeling of these fibers. This remodeling of collagen gives a feeling of tightening to the skin. At a certain temperature, it also decreases the size of fat cells thus helps in contouring.
Usually, 5-7 sittings are required for each area depending on the laxity of the skin. Treatment of each area takes about 30-60 mins. The sessions have to be repeated every week.
It can be used anywhere on the face and body to smoothen wrinkles, tighten loose skin, reduce cellulite and treat fat circumferentially.
