This treatment eliminates bags under the eyes and tightens the lower eyelid skin

Cosmetic eyelid surgery, also called “Blepharoplasty,” removes the excess fat and wrinkled, drooping skin of the upper eyelids that can make you look constantly tired or sad. It also eliminates bags-under-the-eyes and tightens the lower eyelid skin. The result is a brighter, more alert and rested appearance. Upper Blepharoplasty

When upper blepharoplasty is performed, an incision is placed along the crease or fold of the upper eyelid and finely sutured. Excess skin or fat is removed from this incision. As the incision is made in the crease of the eyelid, it is barely visible and easily camouflaged with makeup. An upper blepharoplasty is performed under local anesthetic and sometimes with sedation as a day surgery. This procedure is not painful and takes approximately 45 minutes. By doing this simple procedure, we can expect to reverse an aged-look by about 7-9 years.

Lower Blepharoplasty

A lower blepharoplasty is performed with an incision inside the eyelid or externally, just beneath the eye lashes. If suturing is required, dissolving sutures are used. Excess fatty tissue is removed from the lower eyelid, giving the patient a less tired look and reducing puffiness. It is often common to have a LASER performed on the lower eyelid to decrease lines around and underneath the eyes. A lower blepharoplasty takes approximately 60 minutes and both procedures combined usually take up to 90 minutes.

Am I A Good Candidate For Eyelid Surgery

Any one or combination of the following conditions may indicate that you are a good candidate for eyelid surgery:

  • Excess skin obscuring in the natural fold of the upper eyelids.
  • Loose skin hanging down from the upper eyelids, perhaps impairing vision
  • A puffy appearance to the upper eyelids, making the eyes look tired
  • Excess skin and fine, creepy wrinkles of the lower eyelids
  • Bags and dark circles under the eyes.
  • Droopiness of the lower eyelids, showing the white area below the iris (coloured portion of the eye).
